This is the final part of my message on REFOCUS, preached last sunday...

To refocus our lives we must pursue a clear vision for our lives.
Here is how we should pursue our vision for 2013.

HABAKKUK 2:2-3
Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come, It will not tarry”.

There are six characteristics of a focused vision.

1. A VISION MUST BE WRITTEN: ‘write the vision’ vs.2.
The process of writing down something you want to do helps you to be committed.
Writing allows your hand to transmit what your brain is thinking of.

I pray that God gives you the wisdom to set down a clear vision for the coming year.

2. A VISION MUST BE CLEAR: ‘make it plain on tablets’ vs.2.
Make it plain means break it down or simplify it.
To stay focused you must be able to clearly state the main thing that you want to focus on.
Ideally, you should be able to state your vision in one sentence. What is the ‘one thing’ that you’ve set before yourself for the coming year?
In addition, break your vision into actionable steps.

I pray that God helps you to develop a step by step plan for your vision.

3. A VISION MUST PRODUCE ACTION: ‘that he may run who reads it’ vs.2.
Your vision should inspire you. Your vision should drive you into action. If you don’t act on what you have set before you, it will only be a fantasy. God wants you to run for your vision.
Every day, in 2013, you must take a step that brings you closer to your vision for the year. Even if the steps are small, still take them. A vision must make you run.

I pray that you receive grace to run.

4. A VISION HAS A TIME FRAME: ‘the vision is yet for an appointed time’ vs.3.
Nothing just happens. Life is a process. God uses the process of time to bring your vision into maturity. Time is not your enemy. Time is your friend.
When you plant corn in the field, it has an appointed time of three months to reach maturity. Similarly your vision is like a seed sown. It will not mature immediately.
It will germinate, grow, bear fruit and finally get ripe. All of that takes time.

I pray that you will not miss the season of maturity for every vision seed you sow.

5. A VISION MUST LEAD TO A REALITY: ‘it will not lie’ vs.3. A vision is not a fantasy. Your vision must lead to real achievements. God does not want us to be deceived. He wants us to see our seeds as fruits.
Although a vision starts as an inspiration or an idea, it must end as a reality. Every step you take in line with your vision should be a step towards reality.

In the name of Jesus, I decree that your vision will not lie. You will see the fruit of the seed you have sown.

6. A vision requires patience: ‘though it tarries, wait for it’ vs.3.
The word, ‘wait’ here means, ‘to stand in expectation’. Don’t give up. Don’t yield to discouragement. When you fall, get up and move on. Stay on course. Push towards your goal.
People may give up on you but don’t give up on yourself.
There will be days of loneliness. There will be days of despair. There will be of frustration. Don't quit when storms arise against you.
Push through those days. Because beyond that, lies days of fulfillment; Days of favour; Days of significance. There a great days ahead of you.
If you peep moving, you will make progress.

I pray for you that your strength does not fail. Receive the anointing to start and to finish.

May the Lord help you keep your focus in 2013. THERE’S HOPE FOR THE FUTURE!!!
