Rutgers looks to recruit more international students.
The list of US
colleges and universities re-dedicating their efforts to increase
enrollment of international students continues to grow. Rutgers, the
state university of New Jersey with 58,000 students and a long history
of enrolling foreign students, is stepping up its efforts to increase
internationalization. The university is entering into partnerships with
foreign universities and increasing the study abroad opportunities for
its domestic students, increasing international enrollment by 30 percent
over the past five years and almost doubling the number of students
that study abroad.
Joanna Regulska,
Rutgers' Vice President for International and Global Affairs, said the
58,000-student university needs to reach outside U.S. borders to stay
relevant. "These days you can't function as an institution without the
global connections," Regulska said today from Poland, where she is doing
a research project.
